Instructions

    • 1

Verify that the size of your pole barn will fit into the area where it is to be located. Do this by measuring the dimensions of the structure with the tape measure.

    • 2

Mark the outline of the pole barn on the ground with spray paint or use stakes. Hammer the stakes into the ground with the hammer. Use the post hole digger to dig holes at least 20 inches deep for the poles.

    • 3

Place six to eight inches of gravel into the bottom of the holes. Insert the poles for the supports into the holes. Attach 2-by-4-boards to the poles with nails using the nail gun. These will act as bracing until the roof is constructed.

    • 4

Place the 2-by-8 stringers to support the roof trusses against the top of the poles. Drive roofing nails into the stringers to secure them to the poles.

    • 5

Set the roof trusses 24 inches apart on top of the stringers and attach them using the roofing nails. Set and secure the purlins around the outer edge of the stringers. The purlins are used to support the weight of the roof trusses.

    • 6

Place the corrugated metal or other material to cover the trusses and sheath the roof. Secure the roofing to the trusses with nails or with screws using the power drill.
