When you need a stalk or two of celery for a salad or soup, but the only celery you find at the bottom of the vegetable drawer looks wilted, don't toss it. Refresh celery quickly and easily instead. Although wilted celery is could be perfectly edible, it looks so sad that you might not want to use it. Revive celery with a fast trick and your celery will get a second life, standing crisp and straight again. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • Cutting board
  • Sharp knife
  • Tall glass

Instructions

      Wash the celery under cool water and place it on the cutting board.

      Cut the bottom inch off the celery stalks with the sharp knife.

      Fill the tall glass about half full of cool water.

    • 4

      Place the celery stalks into the glass with the cut sides down.

    • 5

      Set the glass into the refrigerator for six to eight hours.

    • 6

      Remove the celery from the glass and the celery stalks will be firm and straight again.

    • 7

      Use the celery stalks immediately.

Tips & Warnings

  • Placing the freshly cut celery stalks into water enables them to draw water up into the stalks again, reviving them.
