How to Use Cartel Binding

Cartel bindings provide increased board feel for aerial tricks.

Jake Burton, owner and founder of Burton Snowboards, began manufacturing snowboards and snowboarding equipment in the 1970s. Burton developed some of the earliest models of the strap-in snowboard binding. The Cartel is a signature binding model from his company. According to Burton, the Cartel binding features lightweight components constructed from a nylon composite material. The aluminum and polycarbonate levers allow you to smoothly adjust the tension of the safety straps. To prevent heel bruising during high-impact tricks, Burton equipped the Cartel binding with a patented cushioning system.

Instructions

1. Lower your snowboard onto the mountain slope in a horizontal position. Insert your left snowboarding boot into the corresponding Cartel binding. Slide the boot backwards until your heel makes contact with the binding's back plate.

2. Align the cap strap over the toe of your snowboarding boots. Insert the opposing end of the strap into the chrome-plated buckle. Pull up on the lever to increase the tension of the cap strap.

3. Pull the top strap of the Cartel binding across the laces of your snowboard boot. Insert the opposing end of the strap into the chrome-plated buckle. Pull up on the lever to increase the tension of the top strap and secure your boot in place.

4. Insert your right snowboarding boot into the opposing Cartel binding. Fasten the cap strap around the toe of your snowboard boot. Tighten the top strap of the Cartel binding to secure your boot in place.
