How to Replace a Homelite Primer Bulb

The Homelite leaf blower makes use of a primer to assist in cold-starting the engine; sometimes these plastic primers need to be replaced. The primer is a plastic bulb that is used to pump fuel into the engine. The primer is pumped seven times before cold-starting the engine. Replacing your primer bulb takes a couple of minutes.

Things You'll Need

  • Replacement bulb
  • Screwdriver
  • Locate the primer bulb next to the throttle stop lever.

  • Unscrew the two screws on the metal plate that hold the bulb in place.

  • Remove the broken bulb and replace with the new bulb. Replace the metal plate and screw in the two screws.

  • Squeeze the bulb until it fills with fuel.

Tips & Warnings

  • Order replacement bulbs from or your local service center.
  • Never start or run the Homelite in a confined area.
  • Use eye protection, ear plugs and a filter face mask.
