How to Remove Embedded Fonts From an Adobe Acrobat 8 Document
When creating Portable Document Format (PDF) files, you often need them to be as small as possible so that you can make them accessible on the web or send them through email. The type of fonts you use in the document can have significant impact on the appearance and the size of the PDF. If Adobe Acrobat or Reader cannot find the font on the computer, the program will substitute the font potentially changing the design significantly. To avoid this, when the PDF is created, Acrobat embeds the entire font family or a subset of the fonts used in the document; however, this may increase the file size by more than 40 kilobytes. When you're pressed to reduce the file size and the appearance doesn't matter, you can unembed the fonts using Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional.
