How to Stuff French Toast With Bananas & Cream Cheese
The sugary sweet taste of French toast with syrup and powdered sugar has long made it a breakfast favorite. If you've ever had stuffed French toast however, you may never go back to the basic kind again. Using thick slices of bread, stuffing tasty toppings such as bananas and cream cheese into the middle of it, takes French toast to a whole other level. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- 4 1-inch-thick French bread slices
- 1/4 cup mashed banana
- 3 tbsp. cream cheese
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 chopped pecans
- 2 tbsp. sugar
- 1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
- Maple syrup
- Powdered sugar, optional

Cut a slit horizontally into one side of each slice of bread to create a pocket, about two inches wide.

Add the mashed banana and cream cheese to a small mixing bowl and stir.

Spoon 1 tablespoon of the banana and cream cheese mixture into each pocket inside the French bread slices.

Combine the eggs, milk and vanilla together in a shallow bowl, and mix the pecans, sugar and cinnamon together in another shallow and wide bowl.

Dip the bread into the egg mixture, making sure it is saturated.

Remove the bread from the egg mixture and place in the nut mixture, coating both sides.

Place the dipped and coated French toast slices on a greased baking sheet and into a 450 F oven for six minutes, until golden brown.

Flip the stuffed French toast over and bake for another five minutes until the other side also turns golden brown. Serve immediately with warm maple syrup and powdered sugar on the side.
