How do I Install Engine Intake on an 03 Acura Tl?
Honda's luxury line of automobiles, Acura, released the TL models for the 1995 model year. Initially replacing the Acura Vigor, the TL came standard with a 2.5L inline, five-cylinder motor and a four-door body style. By 2003, the TL was in its last year of its second generation, featuring a 3.2L V6 engine that produced 225 horsepower and 216 foot-pounds of torque. With a wide range of interchangeable parts available from Acura and aftermarket manufacturers, replacing the air intake of your 2003 TL is a simple procedure that can be performed at home.

Intake Removal
-
1
Open the hood of your car to access the engine and air intake system. Crawl underneath the car and unbolt the front bumper from the car and completely remove. Set this bumper aside for later installation.
-
2
Unscrew the bolts that hold the engine cover together with a flat-head screwdriver. Gently pull up on the engine cover once all screws have been removed and set aside.
-
-
3
Loosen the bolt that fastens the air intake tube to the throttle body with the necessary wrench. Pull the intake tube away from the throttle body once the fastening hardware has been completely removed. Pry the other end of the tube away from the filter housing unit with a flat-head screwdriver and dispose of this tube completely. Disconnect the hose that connects to the upper intake tube at the throttle body. Remove the electrical wiring from the throttle body and distributor.
-
4
Unfasten the top of the air filter housing unit to expose the old air filter inside. Remove this old air filter and unscrew the bottom of the housing unit and remove completely. Dispose of these parts, for these are all included in the air intake replacement kit.
-
5
Hold the air intake tube, located in front of the driver-side front wheel, with a screwdriver and drill into the part that connects the lower tube and the upper half to separate these units. Unscrew the bolt that holds this lower tube into place. Pull the entire unit that the lower intake tube attaches to and remove completely.
Installation

6
Relocate the bolt that holds the electrical wiring to the open hole on the flat metal sheet on the lower side of the vehicle. Screw in the vibration mount, included in your air intake kit, with your hand. It should be mounted where the electrical wiring was placed.
-
7
Unscrew the bolts that hold the clamp behind the throttle body located on the upper side of the engine.
-
8
Slide the new, lower piece of the air intake through the bottom of the bumper. Screw the bolts that hold this piece into all lower brackets until secure. Attach the included spacer to the upper intake tube and fasten the hardware to hold to the throttle body.
-
9
Attach the intake hose again, making sure that the connection is tight. Use your hand for this process. Attach the new air filter to the lower intake tube. This part will slide right into place.
-
10
Reattach all of the electrical wiring that was removed for this process. Hold the bumper into place and screw the bolts to secure.
