You can configure a VersaLink 327W router for a DSL trunk.

The VersaLink 327W is a networking hardware appliance that provides a combination of Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) modem, network router and Wi-Fi access points. On the outside, it interfaces with DSLs maintained by an Internet Service Provider (ISP) -- typically a telecommunications company, such as AT&T or Verizon. On the inside of your network, you can connect devices via wired Ethernet connections to ports on the VersaLink 327W, or wirelessly over Wi-Fi following the 802.11b/g IEEE standard protocols. You can configure the VersaLink 327W from a computer directly connected to it.

Instructions

    • 1

Connect the computer to one of the ports labeled "1" through "4" on the back of the VersaLink 327W, using the Ethernet cable.

    • 2

Launch a Web browser on the computer, then navigate to "http://192.168.1.1." Enter "admin" as the user name, and enter the administrator's password as the password (the default password is "password"), then click "OK." A Web page with the top level of the VersaLink 327W's administrative interface will come up on the browser.

    • 3

Click "Profile editor" to start entering the information that authenticates your modem as a legitimate customer of your ISP. Enter any name you choose to identify this connection into the "Connection name" field. Enter the account ID and password provided to you by your ISP in the following two fields. Select "Always on" and "Save password," then click "Save."

    • 4

Click "Connect" to establish the connection with the ISP using the information entered in Step 2. The VersaLink 327W will give informational messages (e.g., "Connecting...") while it goes through the various phases of the connection establishment protocol. Wait until the Web page displays "UP" next to "PPP Status." At that point, the VersaLink 327W is connected to the Internet and ready to provide connectivity to all computers in your network.
