How to Make a Six-Sided Chain Snowflake
A single paper snowflake is pretty, but it's much more impressive and beautiful when you unfurl a chain of decorative snowflakes. With some careful folding and cutting, you can make a chain of identical six-sided snowflakes that will make a beautiful decoration or garland for a winter party.

1
Fold a sheet of paper in half lengthwise and unfold it. Cut the sheet in half down the fold.
-
2
Fold one-sixth of the paper down along the short edge of the paper (widthwise). Flip the page over and fold the already-folded-down strip down so you have another strip one-sixth the size of the paper. Repeat until you have a thin strip of paper with six folds in an accordion or zigzag style. Collapse the accordion into a single strip.

3
Place one finger on the center of the longest edge of the paper strip and fold the bottom-left corner of the strip up, from that point, at about a 60-degree angle. This corner should now be above the top fold of the paper strip. Repeat with the bottom-right corner.
-
4
Flip the paper over. You should see the two corners rising above the horizontal fold of the paper strip. Cut off the two corners sticking up above the top fold and cut off the two outside corners of the paper strip.
-
5
Cut out the pattern of your snowflakes. You can draw a pattern first with the pen or pencil and then cut if you prefer. Don't cut the edges of the snowflakes completely off, but you can cut into the edges of the folded strip. For example, cut out small V shapes along the sides of the paper and cut off the top corner. You may need to experiment several times before you get the design you want.
-
6
Unfold the paper. You will have a chain of three six-sided snowflakes. If you used a single sheet of letter-sized paper, each snowflake will be roughly 3 inches across.
