How to Replace the Climate Control Unit in an F-150

by Zyon Silket

The climate control unit in a Ford F-150 is the control module in the center of the dash below the radio that has the blower controller and the air/heat mixture control on it. If the unit stops working, you must remove the broken one and replace it with a new one or you will not have control of the heating and air conditioning in the vehicle.

Step 1

Pull the trim pieces from each side of the climate control cluster on the dash. The trim pieces have metal retaining clips that press into holes on the dashboard. When you pull on the trim pieces, you will pull the clips out of the retaining holes.

Step 2

Remove the four bolts that secure the climate control unit to the dash panel with a socket and ratchet.

Step 3

Pull the climate control unit out of the dash.

Step 4

Unplug the wiring harnesses on the back of the climate control unit and discard the old unit.

Step 5

Pug the wiring harness into the new climate control unit and push the unit into the dash.

Step 6

Secure the climate control unit into the dash using the bolts, socket and ratchet.

Step 7

Place the trim pieces around the climate control unit and press them into the dash.
