How to Cook Grilled Lobster
Instead of cooking the same hot dogs and burgers on the grill, try cooking lobster to enjoy a delicacy. Ordering a lobster at a restaurant often can be expensive. Grilling the lobster at home proves to be more economical. The lobster tail and claws are common parts of the lobster that people enjoy, but you can split and trim the lobster at home and enjoy the entire shellfish for a quick and elegant dinner. Things You'll Need
- Cooking pot with lid
- Ice water
- Cutting board
- Sharp knife
- Melted butter
- Basting brush
- Roasting pan
- Lemon slices

Bring 2 gallons of water to a boil on the stove top. Place two lobsters into the cooking pot at a time. Cover the pot with a lid and parboil the lobsters for 5 to 7 minutes.

Remove the lobsters carefully from the cooking pot. Immerse the lobsters into a bowl of ice water.

Place the lobsters upside down on a clean cutting board. Slice the lobsters in half lengthwise starting at the tail and up to the head. Split the claws with a sharp knife. Remove the black vein from the tail, sand sac near the head and green tomalley from the lobster body.

Heat the grill to the medium heat setting. Place each lobster half on the grill with the shell side down. Baste the exposed meat with melted butter.

Cover the lobsters with a roasting pan to help them cook evenly. Remove the cover every 2 to 3 minutes and baste the lobster with melted butter. Turn the lobsters over after 5 to 6 minutes.

Grill the lobsters for 10 minutes. Check the thickest part of the tail to see if it appears white and opaque.

Remove the lobsters from the grill. Serve them with melted butter and lemon slices.

Tips & Warnings
Cook lobsters on the day that you purchase them.
Store the live lobsters in the refrigerator. Cover the lobsters with a damp towel or seaweed.
Leave the rubber bands on the claws to prevent the lobsters from pinching you.
