How to Secure Business Networks
If you are administrating a business network, then security will be one of the highest priorities. Unlike smaller home networks, business networks store a multitude of sensitive or private information that needs to remain secure. There are various steps and stages you can take to ensure that your business network is secured. Many of these items require only quick setup changes. After setup, all that's required is simple monitoring.

Start using WPA2 encryption on all wireless points. With most modern routers and wireless access points already utilizing WPA2, you should already be doing this. Likewise, hide your service set identifier (SSID) so that no one can identify information about your wireless points.

Ensure all administrative passwords are as strong as possible. These should a selection of letters and numbers, varying between uppercase and lowercase. Change these passwords on a regular basis.

Disable any external access to the administration panels. Some server setups will have this enabled by default.

Use full network-wide anti-virus software solutions. As an example, Symantec offers a large organization package. These will be geared towards you as an administrator.

Do not host a Web server on your network if you have external hosting options available to you. Web servers provide many security vulnerabilities.

Disable all types of sharing on the main computers. Your file server should have sharing access, but individual computers do not need it.

Use whole disk encryption on all computers that will leave the office.

Back up your data both on-site and off-site.
