How to Remove Virtumonde Using a Repair CD

Virtumonde is a malicious Trojan that infects Microsoft Windows computers. If you have received a Virtumonde infection and typical virus removal tactics have not completely rid the Trojan from your computer, you can use a Windows System Repair CD to recover your computer. The System Repair CD allows you to roll back the operating system to a point in time before you received the Virtumonde infection.

• Windows 7 system repair CD

Instructions

1. Insert the System Repair CD into the CD-ROM drive and restart the computer. Follow prompts to press any key to boot from the System Repair CD.

2. Follow on-screen prompts to select your language, region and time format. The "System Recovery Options" menu will open.

3. Click on "System Restore" from the options menu.

4. Click to highlight a System Restore Point that is before the date of infection. Each Restore Point in the list has a date, time and description of the action that prompted the Restore Point. Click "Next," and select your hard drive.

5. Follow prompts to confirm the System Restore options. This will roll back your computer to the date and time before you received the infection. Follow prompts to restart your computer to complete the removal of Virtumonde.
