How to Wash Sprayed Raspberries
If you suspect that the fresh raspberries you purchased may have a pesticide residue on them, you may wish to wash them carefully before consuming them. Although you cannot remove all traces of chemicals, by washing them carefully with a special solution, you can remove a significant amount of chemicals from the berries. Wash sprayed raspberries immediately before you serve them to ensure that they will be delicious and nutritious. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Large bowl
- White vinegar
- Dishwashing detergent
- Commercial produce wash
- Colander

Mix together 2 tbsp. white vinegar and 2 cups of cool water. Alternatively, mix 1 tsp. of dishwashing detergent with 1 gallon of cool water. Another option is to use a commercial produce wash to soak the raspberries -- follow the instructions on the label for the correct ratio of produce wash and water. Mix the water and the other ingredient of your choice thoroughly to combine the ingredients.

Place the raspberries into the large bowl with the washing mixture. Swirl the raspberries around gently with your hands for about 10 seconds.

Drain the raspberries, pouring off all the water.

Place the raspberries into the colander. Run cool water over the raspberries, moving the raspberries around under the water with your hands to rinse them well. Continue rinsing the raspberries under cool water for about two minutes.

Shake off excess moisture from the raspberries; they are now ready to serve.
