1
Lay out the colors of acrylic paint you wish to use. Open and ready a container of white paint if you are painting a snowman, for example. Prepare a container of silver paint if you are painting an aluminum baseball bat. Having all paints and materials available beforehand helps keep you focused solely on making the craft. Acrylic paint dries faster and does not absorb into craft stick wood as watercolors will.

Dip your brush into the paint and apply one even layer to the front side of the stick. Cover the entire surface area. Allow the front to dry for 15 minutes. Flip the stick over and paint the reverse side.

Decorate the stick accordingly. Dip a brush into black paint, for example, and blot dots onto the stick to represent coal eyes, a mouth and buttons for the snowman. Swipe a thin splash of orange paint for a carrot nose. Allow another 15 minutes for all paint to dry. Cut and glue on colorful cloth materials to add texture and life to the craft once the paint is no longer wet.
