How to Turn off the Power Control Widget

The power-control widget is a device built in to smartphones that run on Google's Android operating system. The widget displays on the phone's home screen and gives you access to five phone features that can dramatically and needlessly reduce battery life on your Android phone. The widget controls the phone's Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPS antennas as well automatic email synchronization and screen brightness. If you feel like the power-control widget clutters your desktop, or you just do not use it, you can turn it off and make it go away.

Instructions

1. Press and hold the widget until the launcher button turns into a red trash can. The launcher button is the icon you press to view all of the applications on you phone. It is at the bottom center of your screen. Do not let go of the widget icon.

2. Drag the power-control widget icon until it is on top of the red trash can.

3. Release the icon when it turns red over the launcher icon. This will turn off and get rid of the power-control widget.
