How to Make Corsages & Boutonnieres by Yourself
If you are preparing to go to your first prom, it is customary for the girls to wear corsages and the boys to wear boutonnieres. Although you can buy these floral items at a florist's shop, they can sometimes be expensive. One solution is to make your own corsages and boutonnieres using fresh flowers and a couple of craft supplies. This allows you to save money that can be spent on other aspects of your big night and exercise your creativity.

1
Choose some attractive fresh flowers that match the colors in your dress and some greenery for background. Cut the stems off of the flowers and the greenery so that you have four to five flowers and three to four pieces of greenery that are each 5- to 6-inches long.
-
2
Arrange the flowers and greenery in a visually pleasing way with all of the stems facing in one direction.
-
-
3
Wrap the stems together tightly using green florist tape.

For the corsage, cut a piece of elastic to 6-inches in length, and arrange the elastic into a loop. Line up the ends of the elastic with the wrapped stems. Wrap more florist tape diagonally over the ends of the elastic to secure them to the corsage, or use a needle and thread to sew the ends of the elastic together and onto the wrapped stems. The elastic secures the corsage to your wrist.

For the boutonniere, place the wrapped stems against the suit lapel. Insert a large straight pin through the stems and into the lapel.
