Chevy Cobalt 2005 4 Door: How to Remove the Door From the Inside
If the doors on your 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt become damaged, it can be a safety issue that can put your vehicle at greater risk of being stolen. To fix the problem you need to remove the door from its hinges in order to have it repaired or replaced. You can pick up the basic tools you will need to complete the job from any local DIY store. The task will take you around an hour to complete.

Open up the hood of your Cobalt. Use a socket wrench to loosen the clamp bolt on the negative battery terminal. Lift the negative cable away from the terminal.

Open up the damaged door of your Cobalt and enter the inside of your vehicle. Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the screws attached to the door panel. Pull the panel away from the door and move to one side.

Locate the door wiring boot at the bottom of the door space. Use your hands to disconnect the window regulator wiring from its connector.

Locate the two hinges on the inside of the door which fix it to the Cobalt. The hinges are secured in place by four bolts, with a stop pin attached to the top hinge. Slide the pin out of the hinge. This will allow you to full open up the door. Open up the door fully to give you better access to the hinges.

Use a ratchet and extension to remove the four bolts which fix the two hinges in place. Remove the bolts on the bottom hinge and then proceed to remove the bolts on the top hinge. Lift the door away from the Chevrolet Cobalt.
