How to Locate a Moped Wholesaler

A moped, commonly known as a scooter, is a low-powered motorcycle designed as economical transportation. They are called mopeds because early models had pedals like those on bicycles, leading to the term "motor-pedal." These days, other vehicles with a low power output, low speed and restrictive engine, as well as some powered bikes, are called mopeds. As of 2011, the average price range for buying a moped through wholesale is between $500 and $1,500.

Go into a retail store that sells mopeds. On the packaging, you should see either "Manufactured by" or "Distributed by." Contact the company for a list of its authorized wholesalers. Also ask the store manager or sales representative what wholesaler they use. Some will tell you, and this will reduce your search time.

Attend a trade show specializing in mopeds. Numerous companies will be there competing for attention, and you might be able to find a wholesaler to speak with directly. Some organizations that are present may also be able to help, since they have connections throughout the industry. Work your way around the room and collect as many relevant business cards as you can. This way, you will be able to compare and get the best price available when choosing a particular model of the moped.

Consider buying a list of wholesale companies that includes their contact information and name. There are websites and companies that offer these types of lists, but some will sell only to businesses. One company that specializes in these lists is World Wide Brands, which has a certification of quality from eBay.
