How to Use Vegan Soy Yogurt as a Baking Substitute for Oil
Vegan soy yogurt is a low-fat or non-fat, non-dairy food. It can be used in baking to reduce the amount of fat in pastries and can be a useful ingredient in vegan cooking. It gives cookies, cakes and sweet breads a soft and moist texture that regular oils do not provide. You do not have to change any other parts of your baking recipe when you substitute yogurt for oil, although you may have to make sure the batter is not too wet. Does this Spark an idea?

2
Stir yogurt and add it to the baking mix when the recipe calls for the oil to be added. The yogurt may make the batter extra moist. Slightly reduce the amount of liquid, or add a small amount of flour, to even out the mixture.

Tips & Warnings
When used in baking, yogurt gives food a creamy and tender texture. The taste of the yogurt will be at least slightly noticeable in the finished product. Choose to use yogurt instead of oil if you believe the quality of your baked goods will not be negatively altered by the substitution.
