How to Specify a Computer in Firewall Rules for a Dynamic IP

The Windows firewall software protects your network computer from hackers and unauthorized access. You typically set the firewall to allow computers with certain IP addresses to access the computer. However, if a computer has a dynamic IP address, you must create an exception using the port number for the service. This allows the remote computer to access your computer regardless of the IP address.

Click the Windows "Start" button and choose "Control Panel" from the list of options. Type "firewall" in the search text box and press "Enter." Click the "Windows Firewall" link to open your firewall settings.
