Ants are very resourceful insects. They will send scout ants into your home to search for food sources. When a food source is found, large numbers of ants will enter the house through tiny crevices. For example, if a scout ant finds a food source in your couch, then you are likely to find a trail of ants leading from the entry point to the couch. This can be a tough problem to handle, but with the right techniques, you can get rid of ants in couches.
Step 1
Watch the ants carefully to see where they are entering the couch and where the trail leads. The trail is most likely leading to a small crack or crevice that leads outside.

Step 2
Use your vacuum cleaner to remove the ants from the trail and from your couch. Take off the couch cushions and push the hose extension of the vacuum cleaner between the cushions. Get rid of as many ants this way as you can. Dispose of the vacuum cleaner bag outside as quickly as possible, and don't forget where the ant trail was located in your house.
Step 3
Mix equal parts of vinegar and water, and add 10 drops of tea tree oil. Pour this mixture into a spray bottle.
Step 4
Thoroughly spray your couch, as well as the trail the ants used and their entry point. This will clean and disinfect the area.
Step 5
Fill another spray bottle with straight white vinegar. Spray the ant trail, entry point, and any other place you saw ants. This will get rid of the scent trail the ants used so they can't follow it again. Go outside your house and spray the outside entry point as well.
Step 6
Sprinkle the entry point on the inside and outside of your home with cayenne pepper. The pepper will repel the ants and keep them away.
