How to Decorate With Blue in a Log House

Instructions

1. Painting the walls of a log house may not be practical as one of the architectural features of the home is the logs themselves. However, you can paint or stencil a design onto one or all of the kitchen cupboards, such as flowers, mountains or animals, for a more country feel. You could also paint a piece of furniture navy blue to add rich color to the room.

2. Bring blue into the kitchen by hanging bright blue and white enamel cooking pans from a pot hanger. Lay a blue-checked cloth on the table and set it with blue-and-white pottery dishes. Add a white vase that holds blue wildflowers, as well as blue plate chargers, pasta bowls and salt and pepper shakers.

3. Design your living room with a navy blue leather sofa and two easy chairs in a blue-patterned fabric. Hang curtains with scenes of a blue sky or sunset, or just solid blue. Put pillows in blue-patterned material on the sofa and chairs. A blue vase with flowers and a large oil painting of Native American pottery expand on the theme.

4. Cover the bed with a thick cotton blue-star comforter and place a navy blue, hand-woven rug by the bed. Coordinate pictures in the room -- family photos, perhaps -- with navy blue mats, and place some on the dresser and some on the wall. Hang blue curtains and tie them back with rope.

5. Place a blue runner from the bedroom to the bathroom. Go for thick blue towels and blue bathrobes. Add blue coverings to the toilet and a navy blue shower curtain tied back with solid blue embroidered tassels.
