How to Get Animated AIM Buddy Icons
AOL Instant Messenger is a free messaging program that provides a number of buddy icons for users. Buddy icons represent you and appear in the instant message, whether you're chatting one-on-one or in a chat room with a group of others. An animated buddy icon, known as a SuperBuddy, can add personality to your chat by adding emoticons to the image, which can also be seen by the opposite chat user. A SuperBuddy is available for users of AIM 7.5 and later.

Visit the AIM home page (see Resources), and click "Settings."

Click "Sign In" and enter your AIM screen name and password, then click "Sign In."

Click "Expressions" in the side panel of the browser window, and click "Change my IM Expressions." The browser window opens a new window "AIM Expressions" to take you to the Expressions library.

Click the "Browse" tab, and click "Icons." Click the "Category" drop-down menu and click "SuperBuddy." Click a category in the Sub-Category section to narrow your search for animated buddy icons, then click the thumbnail of the SuperBuddy you wish to use.

Click "Apply" underneath the thumbnail to add the animated icon to your profile. Click "Save this expression" in the Your Current Expression section located at the top of the browser window.
