How to Create a Hotspot Message on Pictures

How to Create a Hotspot Message on Pictures thumbnail
Create hotspots for the images on your web page.

A hotspot, sometimes called an image map, defines a specific portion of a picture and turns it into a hyperlink. If you wish to add a message to your hotspot, you can add text to the area of the picture where you will put the hotspot. For example, you may add the words "Goal" to a picture of a soccer ball, and make the area over the word "Goal" into a hotspot that links to soccer rules.

Instructions

    • 1

Open your web-editing program, such as FrontPage, Dreamweaver or PageBreeze, by double-clicking on the icon of the program. Open your project and click on the tab that reads "Design."

    • 2

    • 3

Add text by clicking on the "Pictures" toolbar and dragging a box over the future hotspot. Enter the message and change the font color and style using the font drop-down menu.

    • 4

Navigate to the "Pictures" toolbar and click on one of the hotspot buttons.

    • 5

Draw a circle or square over the area where you wish to add a hotspot.

    • 6

Navigate to the pop-up window and click on the "Insert Hyperlink" box. Browse through the pop-up window to locate the file you intend to link to and highlight it. Click "Okay."
