How Do I Install an ActiveX Control to Upload Photos on Facebook?

An ActiveX control on your Web browser can improve Facebook by speeding up the process of uploading photos to the social networking site. If you don't have ActiveX enabled on your Web browser, you will be prompted to activate it when using the Facebook photo uploader. Modern Web browsers come pre-installed with ActiveX controls, but sometimes this function is disabled by default. Installing an ActiveX control involves tweaking the Web browser's security settings.

Instructions

1. Launch your Web browser.

2. Click "Tools" from the File menu and select "Internet Options." This will open the options window.

3. Click "Security" in the options window and click "Internet" in the "Zone" box. Click "Custom level" to open the "Security Settings" window.

4. Scroll to the "ActiveX controls and plug-ins" section in the "Security Settings" window.

5. Click "Enable" under each option in this section. Save the changes by clicking "OK." Close the "Internet Options" window.

6. Restart Internet Explorer. Although ActiveX is now enabled, you may have to authorize it to use the Facebook photo uploader.

7. Access Facebook and log in to your account. Click "Photo" from your account home page. Click the "Choose File" button to upload photos from your computer. If prompted to install ActiveX, click "Allow."

Tips & Warnings

• You may need to re-enable the ActiveX control after changing other security settings in Internet Explorer.
