How to Compare Kids' ATVs
Kids can have a blast while riding around on a kids-sized ATV. If ATV riding is a popular sport in your family, purchasing a kids' ATV may be unavoidable. Before you buy, be sure to compare all kids' ATVs to see which one works best for your child and his needs.

1
Compare overall size and engine size. The size of your child will help you to determine the size of the kids' ATV that you will be purchasing. If you get an ATV that is too small, it can be dangerous, as is one that has too much engine power.
Although kids under six are not recommended for ATV activity, children six and older can choose an ATV under 70cc, a child aged 12 to 16 can choose an ATV that is 70cc to 90cc and a child over 16 can choose an ATV over 90cc.

Compare ATV options. Options for modern kids' ATVs include transmission style, sport or utility style and wheel options. Transmission styles come in automatic, semi-automatic and manual. Automatic is simplest on new riders. You can choose a sport or utility style based on how your child will be riding. If your child will be camping and hauling small items, a utility style may be best. If your child is interested in racing around, a sport utility is ideal. Finally, you can choose between three wheels or four, keeping in mind that four wheelers are sturdier for young riders than a three wheeler.

Compare prices. Price is an important factor in any big purchase and an ATV is no exception. Prices can vary based on model, manufacturer, options and manufacturing country. Expect to pay anywhere between $550 and $5500.
