Do It Yourself: Kid's Birthday Invitations
Creating your own kids birthday party invitations saves time and money and allows you to put a personal spin to them. Design the invitations with online help or handcraft them with the input of your child. Does this Spark an idea?

Making Cards Online

Go online to the Activities for Kids website and locate the "Party Invitations" link at the top left hand side of the screen. Click the link to navigate to the party invitation maker. Select your favorite design by clicking on the button below it.

Scroll down the page to section 2. This allows you to input your text. Include the child's name, date and time of the party, the location and other relevant information. Move to section 3, which is located directly underneath. In this area you can choose a font color. Go to section 4 which offers choices of border colors.

Push the "submit" button at the bottom of the screen. This will lead you to the page with your finished invitation. To make changes, hit the back button and modify as you desire. Print and cut out the invitation when you're satisfied. Print on colored paper to make your invitations stand out.

Choose a theme for the party. Ask your child to suggest a theme or use the child's favorite television shows, cartoon characters or areas of interest for inspiration.

Create a draft of the card on a piece of spare paper. This will help you determine where the wording and images should be placed.

Choose a paper for the invitations. Use card stock for the card background. Select a color that is appropriate to the theme.

Fold the card stock in half to create the invitation. Put all of the necessary wording inside the card. Be sure to include the child's name, date of the event, location other relevant information. Allow kids to help decorate the invitations with stickers, colored paper, glitter and markers.
