How to Derestrict a Roketa 50 cc Scooter
Almost all 50 cc scooters on the market today have some sort of restriction on them because of federal laws, and the Roketa model of bikes are no exception. Deep inside the moped, there is a washer that creates space in between the variator and the front pulley, causing acceleration, performance and top speed to be slowed down. Removing this washer is a challenging project, and requires at least a few hours to do. In addition, you will need an impact wrench or variator holder in your tool arsenal.

1
Remove the Roketa's kickstand. Remove the bolt securing it to the bike with your socket wrench. You do not have to fully remove the bolt from the kickstand; after loosening the bolt a few turns, you should be able to pull the kickstand out of its socket.

2
Remove the plastic variator case. This case has three bolts securing it, and it's located directly above the kickstand. Gently tug on the plastic edges once the bolts have been removed to dislodge it from the bike.

3
Remove the bolts securing the air intake fan to the variator. The fan is in front of the variator, and it needs to be removed to access the variator. There are six bolts in all; three on the top, and three on the bottom of the fan. Remove them all.

4
Disengage the pulley wheel from the whole variator system. This will need to be done using either an impact wrench or a varitor holder. The pulley wheel will want to turn with a normal wrench. If you are using an impact wrench, simply remove the single bolt holding the pulley onto it. The faster speed of the impact wrench will remove it quickly enough. When using a variator holder, place the holder on the variator with your left hand, and remove the center bolt using a socket wrench in your right hand.

5
Pull off the variator, and remove the center spacing washer. Reverse the above steps to put everything back together and get riding again.

Tips & Warnings
If you are uncomfortable working with your moped's engine, do not attempt to upgrade it. Take it into a repair shop to have the mechanics there upgrade it for you.
