Disable AutoComplete if you use a public computer.

Internet Explorer's AutoComplete feature stores all previously typed items you may have entered into various websites while surfing the Internet. The advantage of using this feature is that it suggests matches that may be similar to what you may have previously typed. However, if you are concerned about maintaining your privacy or you find this feature annoying, you can turn off your typed history by disabling AutoComplete. Fortunately, Internet Explorer (IE) provides its users with the option of disabling AutoComplete from within the program itself.

Instructions

    • 1

Open IE, select "Tools" and then choose "Internet Options."

    • 2

Click the "Content" tab and then select the "Settings" button under the "AutoComplete" section.

    • 3

Uncheck all the boxes under "Use AutoComplete for" on the "AutoComplete Settings" dialog box. If you would like to delete your existing autocomplete history, click the "Delete AutoComplete history" button.

    • 4

Apply your settings by clicking "OK." Restart IE for the changes to take effect. You have successfully turned off the typed history in IE.
