How to Set up an FTP Through SonicWALL PRO 2040

If you want to host your own file transfer protocol (FTP) server with a router such as the SonicWall Pro 2040, then you need to set up correct port forwarding. You can use FTP to transfer files over the Internet between different servers. The SonicWall Pro 2040 is known for being a secure firewall as well as a router. It must be correctly configured if you are to use it for FTP.

      Log in to your SonicWall Pro 2040 administration panel. The address for the panel will be on a sticker attached to the device itself.

      Click "Management," then "Firewall" and then "Access Rules." Click "Add."

      Click "Allow," click the "Service" drop-down and select "File transfer (FTP)."

      Set the "Source" to an asterisk (*).

      Set the "Destination" to "LAN" and your IP address. Enter a name or comment if you like and then click "OK." This will configure FTP with the SonicWall Pro 2040.
