How to Subscribe to a Google Calendar From Outlook

Google Calendar is a online calendar that is part of the free Google account. Google Calendar has a sharing option so that multiple users can access the same calendar. You can use Microsoft Outlook to subscribe to one or more Google calendars. When you subscribe to a calendar, you can only view the calendar in Outlook--you cannot make changes to it. To make changes you have to log into the Google calendar online.

  1. Google Calendar

      Log on to the Google account that contains the calendar you want to subscribe to through any web browser.

      Click on the "Down Arrow" next to the name of the calendar you want to subscribe to. It will be found under the "My calendars" section on the left side of the screen.

      Click on the "Calendar settings" option in the menu that appears.

      Click on the "Calendar Details" tab.

      Click on the "ICAL" button in the "Private Address" section located at the bottom of the page.

      Highlight the link that appears in the "Private Address" dialog box. Do not actually click the link.

      Press "Ctrl-C" simultaneously to copy the link text.

    Outlook

      Open Outlook, then click on the "Account Settings" option under "Tools."

      Click on the "Internet Calendars" tab.

      Click on the "New" button.

      Press "Ctrl-V" simultaneously to paste the Google calendar link address.

      Click the "Add" button.

      Type the name of the calendar in the "Folder Name" text box and click the "OK" button.

Tips & Warnings

  • You will not be able to make changes to the Google calendar from Outlook.
