Elicit the excitement and desire you and your partner felt when you first met by planning a private romantic evening just for the two of you.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Lingerie
  • Candleholders
  • Candles
  • Flowers
  • Tapered Candles
  • Champagne
  • Boxes Of Chocolates
  • Desserts
  • Red Or White Wine
  • Bubble Baths
  • Massage Oils
  • China
  • Fine Stemware
  • Romantic Music
  • Candles
  1. Step 1

Inquire when your partner will arrive home from work on one specific evening. Be very casual about your inquiry so you don't let on to your surprise. If you have children, try to plan the evening on a day when your partner will arrive home late so the children will be in bed.

  2. Step 2

Prepare your partner's favorite meal well ahead of the anticipated arrival time. Include as many courses as you can: appetizers, soup and salad, entree and dessert. Pick up a nice bottle of wine or sparkling fruit drink.

  3. Step 3

Keep the meal warm or cool by putting it in the stove on warm, or in the refrigerator in the dishes you intend to serve on. This will allow you to present the meal as soon as your partner arrives.

  4. Step 4

Set the table with your finest dishes and glasses, complete with placemats and cloth napkins.

  5. Step 5

Light candles and place them all over the house. Use different sizes and colors to create a romantic mood. Play some romantic music, too.

  6. Step 6

Wear something that you know your partner loves. Groom yourself as if you were going on an elegant date.

  7. Step 7

Dim the lights when your partner arrives, and quickly put the meal on the table.

  8. Step 8

Hide in a room where your partner will not see you. Make your entrance after you know your partner has seen the beautiful spread you have created.

  9. Step 9

Greet your partner with a passionate kiss and an invitation to join you for dinner.

Tips & Warnings
  • Prepare your partner's favorite drink and have it waiting on the table closest to the door.
  • If it is too late for a meal, have a romantic dessert ready - perhaps fresh cut fruit with toppings.
  • Use unscented candles on the dinner table so you don't mask the aroma of your meal.
  • Try to read your partner's feelings when you ask for an arrival time. He or she may not be in the mood for anything except sleep if it has been a long day.

on 2/7/2009 Actually, my boyfriend did this for me one evening, and it was amazing. He was even thoughtful enough to draw me a bath, in case I was "too tired" and just wanted to relax. Adding that little touch, made him irresistible.

on 1/12/2009 This is a great idea, but will mostly only work if it's the wife doing this for the husband. I've found that many women coming home from a long day at work will not want sex, whereas a man can work 18 hours straight and will find that "extra umph" to get going if his wife is wearing something sexy and makes it obvious tonight is the night.

on 8/8/2006 Nothing can get your partner in the mood like some aggressive moves, especially if you have been in the relationship for a while. It will enhance the hormones and the mood of your partner. Show her that your still as attracted to her as when you first met her.
