How to Get Range Cooktop Knobs

Cooktop knobs have temperature indicator markings on them so you can set the burners at different temperatures. Over time, the cooktop knob markings can wear off or the knob may not turn the control shaft as it should. When this happens, you will need to purchase new range cooktop knobs. Cooktop knobs are available at home improvement centers, hardware stores and appliance repair centers. Instructions

1. Check the range to make sure all burners are off and cool. Open the range oven door and check to make sure the upper and lower elements are off.

2. Pull the knobs straight off the control panel. The cooktop knobs fit over a shaft with one square side. Do not turn the shafts once you have removed the burner knobs.

3. Take one cooktop knob to the home improvement center or hardware store for replacement. Find knobs that match the temperature markings on the current knob.

4. Look at the back of the new cooktop knobs to make sure they match the old knob. This helps to ensure the new knobs fit your cooktop.

5. Press the new knobs onto the cooktop knob shafts. They only go onto the shafts one way.
