How to Disassemble the Talking Elmo

Maintain Talking Elmo's function with full batteries.

Children who follow "Sesame Street" will be familiar with the character Elmo. Elmo has helped children learn about the alphabet and numbers. He has also helped children discover the world. The battery-operated Talking Elmo doll continues to help children learn. But as the battery goes low, the doll will not function to its fullest and a change of batteries will be necessary. To change the batteries, some dissembling is required.

Things You'll Need

• Phillips head screwdriver
• 3 AA batteries

Instructions

1. Lay the Talking Elmo doll face-down. On its back, open the Velcro slit.

2. Place your hand into the Velcro slit, and pull the short end of the voice box toward the opening.

3. Place the voice box's battery compartment face up. The battery compartment's door is labeled with a battery image and text that says "3 AA (LR6)."

4. Use a Phillips head screwdriver to loosen the screw on the battery compartment. When the screw is fully loose, place your right thumb at the edge of the compartment door, opposite of the screw. Push the compartment door left and lift up.

5. Remove the batteries, and replace it with three new AA batteries. Slide the compartment door cover back, and tighten the screw.

6. Place the voice box back into the Velcro slit of the Talking Elmo doll with the voice box button facing the inside of Talking Elmo's belly. Close the Velcro slit, and the Talking Elmo doll will be fully functional.
