How to Make Your Own Mustache Wax
Men use wax to tame and shape unruly mustaches. Wax smooths and holds the hair in place for many types of mustaches, such as the handlebar, imperial, chevron and horseshoe. You can make your own wax at home. Besides saving money, homemade mustache wax can last for several months, contains safe ingredients, and will keep almost any mustache under control. Things You'll Need
- 3 tsp. grated beeswax
- Microwavable bowl
- Microwave oven
- 1 tsp. powdered gum arabic
- 1 tsp. oil-based hardwood floor cleaner
- Stainless steel bowl
- Stainless steel spatula
- Airtight container

Place grated beeswax into a microwavable bowl. Put the bowl in the microwave and heat it on high for 30 seconds. If it's not melted after 30 seconds, heat it for an additional 15 seconds, or until fully melted.

Mix together powdered gum arabic, floor cleaner and 2 tsp. water in a stainless steel bowl.

Place the bowl over a stove burner set to medium heat. Hold it over the burner for 3 minutes. Stir a few times with a stainless steel spatula.

Remove the bowl from the burner and add the melted beeswax.

Stir the contents with the spatula until it reaches your desired consistency.

Scoop the mustache wax into an airtight container to help preserve it.

Tips & Warnings
Be careful when using the stove burner. Wear protective gloves if you do not feel comfortable about holding the bowl above the burner.
