Proper eyesight is important to everyone, so when your vision becomes blurry and you are in need of corrective lenses; panic sets in. If you are looking for a natural way to improve your eyesight and avoid the cost and stress of getting glasses or contact lenses, there are lifestyle changes you can make including nutrient-rich food and supplements. There are also exercises that have been known to improve eyesight as developed by Dr. William H. Bates.

      Research the Bates method to learn the exercises that will help your eyesight. New York ophthalmologist Dr. William H. Bates developed The Bates System, now referred to as The Bates Method to improve eyesight without glasses or contact lenses. It consists of four main exercises; palming, swinging, stunning and blinking and breathing. His book is available at book stores, libraries and online to view for free.

      Eat vitamin-rich foods to help you see better. Studies have shown that certain foods contain nutrients (such as beta-carotene and other vitamins) which help improve eyesight. These foods include carrots, cold-water fish such as cod and tuna, eggs, spinach and other green leafy vegetables, garlic, onions, soy, wine, blueberries, grapes and fruits and vegetables containing vitamin A, C and E.

      Take supplements to improve your eyesight. Vitamins play an important role in a person's overall health, including eyesight. The vitamins that are vitally important for improving eyesight include vitamin A, vitamin C, beta-carotene, B complex vitamins, magnesium, zinc, gingko biloba, chromium and selenium. Many of these vitamins exist in a daily multi-vitamin or foods like fruits, vegetables, fish and eggs.

      Locate a local seminar that provides courses, advice and resources for improving eyesight without glasses. These seminars and courses teach about the correct foods, drinks and vitamins to improve your vision naturally as well as instructions on exercises introduced by The Bates Method and other advice for improving eyesight. To find a seminar near you, contact your local wellness center or holistic healing center. Your ophthalmologist might also have information about seminars to aid in natural vision correction.
