How to Get Free Help With a Resume
Resumes are one of the most important tools you'll need in landing an interview, and you want to make sure that your resume is one-page long, printed on plain white paper, and that it only includes work experiences that are relevant to the job you're interested in. You don't have to pay a hefty price for a resume review because there are several ways you can have it reviewed for free.

1
Visit your local workforce center. Bring a copy of your resume along with a copy of the job advertisement that you're interested in. Discuss any work experiences that are not on the resume with the counselor, and also ask for any print and online resources that you can use to create a better resume. Finally, take notes of any key points the counselor makes so you can refer to them later.

2
Attend some local career development seminars. Bring your resume and talk about your experiences in looking for work. If the reviewer mentions any errors in your resume and you're unsure of why these mistakes won't work in the resume, ask questions. Also discuss ways that you can tailor your resume to the type of job you're seeking without leaving out any important work experiences that are not related to that job.

Visit career-related websites such as Career Builder and Monster.com. Type in the keyword "resumes" in the search box and then print out articles that deal with resumes which are tailored to your specific field. If you see some sample resumes on these websites, print them out so you'll have an idea of how a resume template would look like.

4
Get books from your public library. Seek out books that give detailed instructions on how to craft your resume as well as information on what employers are looking for when they read your resume. If you see some career-related brochures from the library regarding resumes, bring some home for review.
