Military Flag Folding Instructions
The proper etiquette for flag folding in the U.S. military is paramount in any number of situations, from ceremonies on military holidays to funerals of fallen soldiers. In each situation, the proper technique connotes reverence and respect for the nation, the military and all those who serve.
The act of folding itself must involve a standard issue U.S. flag unblemished by any added insignias or logos. During the ceremony, the flag should never touch the ground and should never be used to hold, transport or cover anything.

1
Fold the long striped edge lengthwise so that it covers the blue field of stars.

Fold it over again so that the blue field is visible, with the stripes running next to it.
-
-
3
Make a triangular fold starting at the lower striped edge by folding the folded edge toward the open edge.
-
4
Fold the resulting triangle inward so that it runs parallel to the original fold.
-
5
Continue folding inward, alternating folds toward the closed edge and parallel folds.
-
6
Make a final triangular fold, resulting in a "tri-corner hat" shape depicting only the blue field of stars.

Tips & Warnings
Make sure the flag is pulled taut at each step. This will prevent any wrinkling and lead to a crisp final shape.
