How to Wrestle on Trampolines

Set up your trampoline for wrestling.

If you or your kids love to wrestle but you're concerned about the dangers involved, you should consider using a trampoline as the wrestling ring. You can practice the moves of a pro wrestler on a trampoline without the injuries, as long as you are careful and have the proper set-up for safety. The bounce of the trampoline allows you to take the falls they take in the pro wrestling ring without actually getting hurt.

Things You'll Need

  • Trampoline
  • Tape measure
  • 4 Poles

Instructions

    • 1

Set up the trampoline on a level area in your yard, as per the instructions that came with the trampoline. The trampoline you use for wrestling should be no smaller than 10 feet in diameter.

    • 2

Pound four heavy-duty poles into the ground so that they form a square on the edges of the trampoline. The poles should extend 3 1/2 feet from the top edges of the trampoline. Tightly wrap a heavy-duty elastic rope around the four poles, about 1 foot apart starting from the top edge of the trampoline. The ropes should be both strong and tight enough to hold the weight of an adult.

    • 3

Wrap the rest of the exposed poles (on the spaces between where the rope is tied) with 2 inch thick foam padding and hold it tightly in place by wrapping it with duct tape. Place mats around the sides of the trampoline to cushion any falls that may occur.

Practice the wrestling moves with your friends or supervise your children as they play wrestle. Mimic pro wrestling moves that you see on television and use the ropes to jump and bounce from the way that they do. The wrestling should only be done without actually making hard contact with each other. You can also practice wrestling moves like in high school or college.

Tips & Warnings

  • Cover the trampoline wrestling ring with a large tarp when not in use to protect it from the elements.

  • Make sure that children wrestling are fairly matched in size and experience.

  • There is still a danger of injury on a trampoline, so adults should always supervise children.
