How to Book Through Travelocity

How to Book Through Travelocity thumbnail
A great vacation starts with booking the flight.

Travelocity is a Web-based travel booking site that allows individuals to compare and book flight, hotel and vehicle options from different providers without the use of a travel agent. The site also features vacation packages as well as the functionality to book cruises online. Although it is necessary to create an account on the site to book with Travelocity, the process is quick and the company has customer service agents available to assist when necessary.

Instructions

    • 1

Select under the "Book My Trip" tab on the home page of the Travelocity website the radio button of the features you'd like to book. Your options include flight, hotel, car, cruise or packages that feature a combination of these.

    • 2

Enter the start and end points of your trip in the fields under the "Pick Locations & Dates" heading. Enter the preferred dates of your trip or the "my dates are flexible" option. This last choice will provide you with possible trip dates for the next three months. Click "search" in the bottom right hand corner of the screen.

    • 3

Choose an option from the list provided by clicking "Select," next to your preference. For example, if you have asked for a search of flights between Los Angeles and Chicago for the next three months, you will see a list in order of price of several available flights on several different airlines.

    • 4

Choose your preferred departure and return dates if your original search indicated flexible date availability. The Travelocity site will show you a calendar with possible dates shaded in green.

    • 5

Select your preferred itinerary. Once you have confirmed dates, you may have more than one time and route available to you. Review the itinerary information, noting any potential hiccups such as a lengthy layover or a red-eye flight. You will be asked to choose an itinerary for departure and return travel.

    • 6

Review the alternative bookings available to you. Travelocity will provide you with any alternative bookings available that are cheaper than your requested option. When you are satisfied with your choice, click "Select."

    • 7

Review your booking and its final price, including taxes. Log in to your account to complete your booking. If you do not have an account, click "Continue," under "Not a Member," to create one.
