Moving a Foam Mattress
Foam mattresses are thick and heavy, which make them a challenge to move. Movers must exercise care when transporting this type of mattress to avoid damaging the structure. It is also important to assume proper posture while lifting the foam mattress to avoid bodily injuries. With the right supplies and equipment, a foam mattress can arrive at its new destination in pristine condition. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Place the mattress in a mattress cover or bag to protect it from dirt and damage during the move. If you do not have a mattress cover or bag, then wrap the mattress with a long sheet of thick plastic. Tie strong cords around the plastic cover to secure it. Remember to cover the box spring, too.
-
2
Insert the mattress into a box of appropriate size. Purchase a box large enough for a mattress from a moving company or a moving supply retailer.

-
3
Stand the box on one broad side with the help of a friend. Crouch and grip the narrow side of the box in front of you. Have your friend do the same on the other narrow side. Lift the box as you both stand, then maneuver your way carefully out of the room and along the path to the moving truck.
-
4
Place the mattress flat on the bed or roof of the moving truck, if possible. If the mattress stands on its side for an extended period of time, the foam filling may shift out of alignment and create lumps.
