How to Make the Battery on Your Phone Last Longer

Turn off cell phone applications you don't need to extend your battery life.

Recent improvements in cell phone battery technology have increased talk time and standby time. However, if you're away from a power source for a period of time, you're likely to start getting concerned about how much longer your battery will last, because you don't want it to go dead when you need to make or receive a call. Making your phone battery last longer requires that you manage its usage and applications.

Instructions

1. Turn on your cell phone. Wait for it to load up the applications, so it's ready to use.

2. Look at the applications that automatically run every time you power up your phone. You can see these from the display panel, although every cell phone operates slightly differently. Each application running is using the energy from your battery, reducing how long the battery will last.

3. Choose the applications you need, or use, the most and keep them open. These may be links to the Internet, social networks or similar.

4. Close down the applications you don't use very often. Click on the icons and click "Close." The fewer applications you have loaded, the longer your phone battery may last.

5. Keep calls to the minimum. Use text messaging instead, as it uses less energy.

6. Turn down the brightness on your screen. Reduce the volume of your ring tone.

7. Limit your use of the loudspeaker function. The loudspeaker uses a lot of battery power.

8. Play music through your headset. Headsets use very little power and maximize battery life.

9. Discharge your battery fully every few months. Even though it's inconvenient, it means your battery can store more energy when you charge it, meaning it will last a lot longer.
