How Do You Take Care of Baby Turtles?
Turtles are reptiles and while some, like the musk turtle, live mostly in water, others such as box turtles live on land. Turtles are a strong species and have existed for more than 200 million years. However, keeping the baby turtle's environment clean and healthy is vital for its survival. Turtles have specific needs based on the type of turtle you have and the rate at which it will grow.

Turtle Care Basics
-
1
Provide a 10 to 20 gallon aquarium for the turtle or plastic storage container of the same size and fill with about 2 inches of water. Box turtles won't need water, but snapping turtles and red-eared do.
-
2
Arrange a few rocks and spread some soil around the aquarium or container. The turtles use the rocks to climb out of the water and the soil to hide.
-
-
3
Place lamps over the aquarium or container for heat. The turtle's environment needs to remain at least 70 degrees.
-
4
Feed the baby turtle fresh foods, such as fruits and vegetables daily. Turtles will eat lettuce, tomatoes and bananas.
-
5
Feed the turtle foods such as fish, crickets, or dried ant eggs three times per week. Dried ant eggs are available at pet stores.
-
6
Keep the turtles environment clean at all times. Remove any feces or debris from the water. Using a filtration system will help keep the water clean, but will not remove all debris.
