Care for Uggs

Uggs are fashion boots made from Australian sheepskin. The outside of the boot is suede, and the inside of the boot is lined with fleece for warmth and comfort. The boots offer the natural water resistance of any leather, but require proper care to maintain their original look and prevent staining. Proper care of Uggs includes both regular cleaning and treatment of the leather with a suede protector.

Instructions

  1. Treating With Protector

    • 1

Spray the Uggs with a sheepskin suede protectant before you wear them for the first time. Hold the bottle 6 inches from the surface of the boot and spray the entire boot until it is damp. The suede will darken in color when damp, and will return to its original color when dry.

    • 2

Place the Uggs in a cool, dry place out of sunlight. Let them air dry for 24 hours.

    • 3

Brush the outside of the boots with a soft suede brush, following the nap of the suede. Repeat the protectant application over the life of the boots as directed on the bottle.

    Cleaning Stained Uggs

    • 4

Fill one bowl with clean, cold water. Fill another bowl with equal parts water and suede cleaner. Dip a clean rag into the plain water and wipe down the outside of the boot until the entire surface is wet but not dripping.

    • 5

Dip a sponge into the cleaning solution. Scrub the surface of the boot gently with the sponge to remove stains. Follow the nap of the suede when scrubbing. Re-wet the rag in the clean water and wipe the boot again to rinse off the cleaner.

    • 6

Stuff the Uggs with paper towels and place them in a cool, dry place for 24 hours to dry. Brush the exterior of the boots with the suede brush to restore the nap of the sheepskin. Repeat the cleaning whenever you notice stains on the boots.

Tips & Warnings

  • Avoid wearing the boots when it is raining outside. Prolonged exposure to excessive amounts of water can cause staining.
