Tips & Warnings
  • An exaggerated front stance (notchwoh sae) is used for thrusting strikes. It's also a good for building strong leg muscles.
  • A short front stance (pahn chun ja sae) is used to perform overhead or high strikes. It's also a variation of a fighting stance used for freestyle sparring.
  • Because the body is open to a frontal attack, the front stance is not an effective defense position.
  • Practice your stance in front of a full-length mirror. Try to lower your stance to increase stability.
  • Martial arts is a physically demanding activity. Warm up with stretching before attempting any martial arts technique.
  • If you have any condition that would impair or limit your ability to engage in physical activity, please consult a physician before attempting this activity.

on 8/8/2006 When doing the front stance, the
the knee of the front leg should be directly over the ankle. If the toes are out too far (where you can see them), this can be bad on the knee.
