The Best Way to Remove Cigarette Smoke
When cigarettes are smoked indoors, the smoke produced can present a major problem. Aside from health risks, it leaves a lasting smell in the room. Although commonly used, candles and air fresheners do little more than temporarily cover up the smell of cigarette smoke. To truly eliminate the odor of cigarette smoke, you may have to take several steps that may take weeks to be effective. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Vacuum cleaner
- Steam cleaner
- Charcoal
- White vinegar
- Baking soda
- Coffee grounds

Open all doors and windows to let the area air out.

Vacuum the carpets. Sweep and carefully mop hard floors to help remove odors.

Wash everything in the room. Steam clean carpets and furniture. Wipe down walls with a damp cloth as long as it will not damage the wall or wall covering.

Set bowls of white vinegar and containers of charcoal out in the room. Remove the white vinegar the following morning, but leave the charcoal in the room for up to a week.

Place baking soda around the room and directly on furniture. After five to six hours, vacuum up the baking soda.

Set bags of used coffee grounds out around the room for about a day.

Tips & Warnings
Keep children and pets away from the charcoal, white vinegar, baking soda and coffee grounds. All can present health hazards.
Test baking soda on a hidden part of furniture, as it may discolor certain materials.
