Instructions

  1. Setting Up the Flex Shaft

    • 1

Choose the attachment that you want to use. The primary attachments that the flex shaft can utilize are the drill bit, the sander or buffer, and the cleaner. Use the attachments in that respective order to add features, buff and clean the piece of jewelry.

    • 2

Snap the attachment onto the end of the flex shaft. The machine, which is held in the air by a metal hook, has a hose coming from the machine. At the end of the hose is a base; this is where you insert the attachment. Turn the attachment clockwise to secure it.

    • 3

Press the button on the base to use the attachment. When you are finished with the attachment, turn the attachment counter-clockwise, pull the attachment and wipe it off with a towel before putting it back into place.

    Using the Flex Shaft

    • 4

Use the drill bit to add engravings or functional holes to the jewelry. Take the tip of the drill bit, hold it to the piece of jewelry and press the button on the base of the flex shaft to use it.

    • 5

Use the buffer to bring a shine to the jewelry. Take the circular buffer, place it against the area of jewelry that you wish to buff, and then press the button on the base of the flex shaft. Buff the area until it is to your smoothing preference.

    • 6

Use the cleaner to erase the buffer's residue. The cleaner, which resembles a makeup brush, will start to spin -- when you press the button on the base of the flex shaft.

Tips & Warnings

  • Some flex shafts have pedals that you step on instead of pressing the button on the base.
