Burial Instructions for a St. Joseph Statue
For hundreds of years, people have turned to Saint Joseph, the patron saint of the universal Church, of fathers and workers. They turned to him for protection of the family, for help with household issues and for obtaining employment. Although the origin of the legend varies, people believe that burying a Saint Joseph statue will help alleviate their household problems. Traditionally, believers would use medals and prayed for a variety of blessings. Today, they use statues and prayers to focus more on speedy real estate sales.

Measure the Saint Joseph statue and then add 3 inches to calculate how deep the burial hole must be.

Choose your burial site and dig the hole according to your measurements. Typically, the burial site is located under or near the "For Sale" sign of a newly listed property. For those with no yard space, use a large flowerpot.

Wrap the statue in a protective cloth or airtight plastic bag. Place the statue upside down into the ground, facing your home.

Recite your prayer to Saint Joseph as you bury your statue. If you purchased a statue kit, there will be a prayer included with the statue.

Continue praying to Saint Joseph while you wait for an answer to your prayers. Once your prayers are answered, return to the burial site and dig up the statue.

Place the statue in a prominent area within your new home to honor Saint Joseph's blessings.

According to tradition, the actual prayer does not seem to matter as much as your amount of faith in the prayer and belief that Saint Joseph will assist you in your needs. In fact, retailers carry different kits, each style with its own specific prayer. In addition, if you are praying to Saint Joseph for matters not related to real estate, you may find another prayer better suited.
