How to Auto-Hide IE Toolbars

The "auto-hide" feature of Internet Explorer 8 is an option in full-screen mode to maximize the display area of your browser. When auto-hide is enabled, all toolbars, menus and the address bar are hidden from view, unless you hover your mouse over the top edge of your browser, at which time the menus reappear. By default, the auto-hide feature is enabled when you enter full-screen mode, but you can turn it on or off.

Instructions

    • 1

      Open Internet Explorer.

    • 2

Press the "F11" key on your keyboard to enter "full-screen mode." Move your mouse away from the top of the screen and click a blank area of the page. Your toolbars should disappear, unless you have auto-hide disabled.

    • 3

Right-click the navigation buttons from full-screen mode and select "Auto-hide" to place a check-mark next to it. Auto-hide will then be enabled.

    • 4

Move your mouse pointer to the top of the screen to make the toolbars reappear.
